Call for Papers: Digital Politics!

Digital Sovereignty – Call for Papers 1-2/2026
The Internet & Communication Policy Center (ICPC) is pleased to share that Rivista di Digital Politics has announced a Call for Papers for issue 1-2/2026, focused on Digital Sovereignty.
This special issue will examine the multifaceted dimensions of digital sovereignty, covering topics such as national and corporate strategies for data control, the balance between global interdependence and regulatory autonomy, and the societal implications of internet fragmentation and technological governance.
ICPC encourages scholars from diverse disciplines – political science, law, economics, communication studies, and science and technology studies – to contribute empirical research, theoretical analyses, and policy critiques on themes including, but not limited to:
- Theoretical and conceptual frameworks of digital sovereignty
- Comparative studies of national digital policies
- Economic trade-offs: globalization vs. protectionism
- Geopolitical strategies and technological autonomy
- Digital constitutionalism and the rule of law in cyberspace
- Data localization and national security considerations
- Digital rights, privacy, and surveillance
- Corporate influence in digital governance
- International organizations and cross-border regulation
- Standards, interoperability, and ecosystem competition
- Cybersecurity and digital militarization
- AI, emerging technologies, and sovereignty challenges
- Internet fragmentation and global connectivity futures
Prospective contributors should submit an abstract (up to 800 words, including bibliography) and a brief biography (up to 100 words) by 30 October 2025 to redazione@digitalpolitics.it. Notifications will be sent within two weeks. Full articles (6,000–8,000 words) are due by 4 May 2026, and shorter Web Reviews (3,000–5,000 words) are also invited.
Submissions may be in English or Italian and will undergo a double-blind peer review. Please submit proposals via the Mulino Submission Portal.
