ICPC Presents Preliminary Research Findings at the ACN PhD Projects Kick-off Meeting
ICPC at the ACN PhD Projects Kick-off Meeting
Preliminary findings from an ACN-funded PhD research project on global cybersecurity, digital sovereignty and technology supply chains were presented at the headquarters of the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency in Rome.
On 13 July 2026, Armando Antonio Ferrara , PhD student and holder of the doctoral scholarship funded by the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency (Agenzia per la Cybersicurezza Nazionale – ACN), presented the preliminary findings of his research project at the Agency’s headquarters in Rome.
The presentation took place during the “Kick-off progetti di dottorato ACN – XLI ciclo” (“Kick-off Meeting for ACN PhD Projects – 41st Cycle”). Ferrara attended the event together with Mauro Santaniello , supervisor of the doctoral research project.
The ACN-funded project is titled “Global Cybersecurity, Digital Sovereignty and Technology Supply Chains: A Transdisciplinary Analysis.”
Global cybersecurity, digital sovereignty and technology supply chains
The research examines how dependencies, strategic chokepoints and geopolitical disruptions within technology supply chains may affect the cybersecurity and resilience of critical digital infrastructures.
Adopting a transdisciplinary approach, the project connects cybersecurity studies, international political economy, digital sovereignty and technology governance. It seeks to map strategic dependencies and vulnerabilities, analyse possible disruption scenarios and assess their implications for security, autonomy and resilience in the digital domain.
PhD research and academic supervision
The presentation provided an opportunity to discuss the project’s first results and its contribution to the analysis of cybersecurity risks arising from strategic technological dependencies and global supply-chain disruptions.
