The Ninth GIG-ARTS Conference | The Rise of Digital Sovereignty: Ambiguities and Challenges | University of Salerno 26–28 May 2025

From 26 to 28 May 2025, the University of Salerno will host the ninth edition of the GIG-ARTS Conference, devoted this year to “The Rise of Digital Sovereignty: Ambiguities and Challenges.”
Over the past decade the notion of digital sovereignty has moved to the centre of public debate, driven by political and economic interests, geopolitical tensions, and rapid technological change. Efforts to reassert national control over the digital sphere, however, collide with the need for international and multistakeholder cooperation.
The conference aims to open a critical dialogue on these tensions, examining the motivations, ambiguities, and contradictions surrounding digital sovereignty.
