From 26 to 28 May 2025, the University of Salerno hosted the ninth edition of GIG-ARTSGlobal Internet Governance Actors, Regulations, Transactions, and Strategies—under the theme “The Rise of Digital Sovereignty: Ambiguities and Challenges.” Running in parallel from 26 to 30 May, the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on EU Digital Policy gathered students and faculty from six European universities for an immersive learning experience.

The welcome session featured opening remarks by Gemma Carolillo, Deputy Head of the Next Generation Internet Unit at DG CONNECT (European Commission), and Andrea Beccalli, Stakeholder Engagement Senior Director at ICANN, who underscored the importance of inclusive, multi-stakeholder approaches to European digital sovereignty.
